The Week in Hectic
Visiting Spent a lovely day with [info]cruisedirector and her family exploring museums in Delaware & lower Pennsylvania. My favorite was the Edward Gorey exhibit called Elegant Enigmas at the Brandywine River Museum.

Internets: Had some (hopefully) minor computer woes this week. Am hoping they don't get any worse.

Commission: The amazing [info]swtalmnd completed another commission for me, from my story Dumbledore's Folly. Non-porny but I love the sweetness and trust in the artwork. See for yourself here!

Art Point: Not a commission but still smoking hot Snarry art over at [info]tessisamess's journal. Her latest is here.

Fests Snarry-a-thon done and submitted! Don't you hate it when you send a fic off then immediately think of a couple more scenes you could have included? Posting starts April 12th I believe--can't wait!

Silly Question: I'd love to know what songs, if any, you guys think of as Snarry songs? One I always think of when I hear it is The Bangles' Eternal Flame. Schmoopy I know! Any ideas for others?

Weezer's 'The Other Way' screams Snarry to me. Or, at least, Severus. Suppose the other party could be anyone, but where there is Severus, there is Harry!

I went and looked up the lyrics and you're right! That's a really good one, thanks!

Aw, I loved the Bangles. My favorite Snarry song is George Michael's "One More Try," especially And teacher
There are things
That I still have to learn
But the one thing I have is my pride

Lol, it's angsty, but it fits.

Mmmmm that does sound good! I don't mind a bit of angst--more of a challenge to figure out how to give them a happy ending! Thanks, sweetie!

'Lay All Your Love on Me' by Abba always seemed like a Snarry song. Especially post DH and once they started posting pictures of Dan smoking.

I wasn't jealous before we met
Now every man I see is a potential threat
And I'm possessive, it isn't nice
You've heard me saying that smoking was my only vice
But now it isn't true
Now everything is new
And all I've learned has overturned
I beg of you
Don't go wasting your emotion
Lay all your love on me

The Snarry-a-Thon does indeed start posting in one week. There, um, might be a new pimping banner at [info]snape_potter. Also, know you, if you really want to add a few more scenes, you are welcome to do so.

Heeee! Every time I see a photo of Dan smoking I want to snatch the fag out of his mouth! But that's a good song, definitely!

Thanks for the Snarry-a-thon advice. I'll let it stand for posting, and see how I feel about it after I see it again. I, er, might have started working on a certain overdue LL&M story...

Well, it's certainly amazing as is (God, it's good to be a mod!), but I wanted to offer just in case. ;D

As for snarry songs...
"I know you" by Jann Arden: I can envision Harry talking to Severus

"Going Under" by Evanescence: About how Snape is a spy for Harry

"Pet" by A Perfect Circle: for more of a twisted Snape possessive of Harry relationship

"Anywhere" by Evanescence: because there is always someone who disapproves of their relationship

"Hand of Sorrow" by Within Temptation: this song is a Voldemort!Wins fic waiting to be written

"Dangerous" by Depeche Mode: guh

"Poison" by Alice Cooper: cuz guh it's hot!

"Passenger" by Deftones ft Maynard: One of my fave songs and so hot and can be seen as a song about 2 guys having sex. No imagination needed. ^_^

And now that I've shared that...back to my fic ^_^ *envy at your ability to meet deadlines* =)

Wow! Thanks so much! I'll definitely be checking these songs out!

Good luck on your fic! I wouldn't say I have any special ability to meet deadlines, I think I just gave up!

Heeee! You uncovered my fiendish plot to make Snarry song fics from each and every one of the suggestions!

Actually I was thinking it would be fun to have a cd of all my favorite Snarry songs for the car for long trips when I plot out stuff anyway! (And I'd add Stevie Nicks' Edge of Seventeen, and The Four Season's My Eyes Adored You to the list!)

Well I always think of Snarry when hearing Beautiful Disaster by Kelly Clarkson:

He drowns in his dreams
An exquisite extreme I know
He’s as damned as he seems
And more heaven than a heart could hold
And if I try to save him
My whole world could cave in.

And because of the cartoon, When I'm sixty Four by the Beatles.

Send me a postcard, drop me a line,
Stating point of view
Indicate precisely what you mean to say
Yours sincerely, Wasting Away.

Give me your answer, fill in a form
Mine for evermore
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I'm sixty-four?

I hear quite a few seperate characters in songs, Harry features in plenty. I thought it was just me who was that bad and put songs against characters in books!

Heee, great ones, and both so different, thanks! And no, I don't think you're the only one to ascribe Snarry qualities to certain songs! This whole question came up because [info]alisanne and I were in a piano bar and amazed at how many of those schmoopy romantic songs sounded like they were written for Snarry!

You'll think Snarry with Eternal Flame? I've never made that connection before but I'll just have to try again I guess. ^_^

As for me... I used to really think of Hoobastank's The Reason as a Snarry song but not after DH. DH killed it for me as it reflected the Lily thing way too much (you'll probably see what I mean if you look at the lyrics). Other than that I got nothing off the top of my head right now.

There's that lyric in Eternal Flame, something like, A whole life, so lonely, and then you come and ease the pain, that really sounds Snarry-esque to me.

As for DH, thank goodness for fan fiction!

Re: Songs that remind me of Snarry. Dude...I have too many to count! Matching songs to my favorite pairings is one of the first things I do when I get into fandom. Back when I could still draw (I haven't drawn anything for realz in so long I don't even know if I can anymore!) all of my art was inspired by songs or fic. Mostly your fic, at that. ;) I even used to have a Snarry playlist on my computer.

Dan Fogelberg Stolen Moments, art here.

Ozzy Osbourne's Running Out of Time, art here.

More Ozzy: I Just Want You - bare bones what it all comes down to, and See You on the Other Side because dude! it's, like epilogue compliant!

I totally second Edge of Seventeen, and Going Under, and Anywhere, and Poison, and would add tons more Alice Cooper, because I love him dearly, but especially You're My Temptation and Hell Is Living Without You...the last one mostly because of Sushi's fic in which Severus sings it for karaoke. ;)

Def Leppard's always good for a song or two Have You Ever Needed Someone So Bad, and Two Steps Behind, both are self-explanatory, I think. As is Heart, with Who Will You Run To (which, I imagine, is Severus biding his time until Harry gives up on Ginny), I Didn't Want to Need You (duh!), and Will You Be There (In the Morning)...which totally shows us both of their emotional insecurities.

And then there's Won't Say I'm in Love from Disney's Hercules. This, I totally see as a Severus song, in which he's having a nightmare and little half-naked figures from his potions bottles are trying to convince him that he loves the big, silly hero. ;)

I should stop now...but I could totally go on and on and on...

Oh, wait! One more! Ani DiFranco's As Is, the ship song, according to Telanu, and I would have to agree. ;)

Okay, really done now!

Wow, this is amazing! So much goodness--and snarky romance here! Thank you so much! I'm going to explore all of them and wallow in the Snarry goodness!
