The State of Clank and Chains
Excuses, Excuses: Sorry for the lack of updates lately! My computer died and I had to replace it. And it has Windows Vista—woe! So everything that’s irritating me, I can’t tell if it’s the new computer or Vista! On the positive side, it’s smokin’ hot fast…

Fannish News: I posted fic! *bounces* It’s been a long time since I’ve posted anything that wasn’t for a fest/exchange so this was quite nervewracking for me. The Black Asphodel Here at Skyehawke, written for the Live Long N Marry auction. Also here on my journal.

More Fannish News: I can’t believe Half Blood Prince opens next week and I’m leaving for Azkatraz in San Francisco the day after! I’m rooming with [info]rubyrosered, [info]leni_jess and [info]slashpine. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at the Snarry meetup (and our panel, the State of the Snarry Ship for anyone who’s awake at that hour!) If anyone needs my cell phone number just let me know. If you’ve ever had it, it’s still the same.

Visiting: Had the first of the summer field trips with my nephew and we went to Natural Bridge and also saw the caverns and the wax museum. If you’ve never seen the Last Supper done in lifesize wax figures with a backdrop of Jesus being crucified, well, you’ve just never lived, have you?

Random Feel Good: This quote: Alan Rickman, Severus Snape in the Potter films, was a big help on Broadway. He cut short a holiday in Connecticut to visit Radcliffe and give him some pointers on stage presentation "that absolutely saw me through the last six weeks of the run" - how to be still, exploiting his "quite short and compact frame". Radcliffe says he used to "struggle" with Rickman: "I never used to know when he was joking or not. I think I took a lot of his sarcasm seriously. But recently I've woken up to it and he's actually a great guy." by Dan Radcliffe on Alan Rickman makes me insanely happy. I’ll just bet he’s woken up to Alan…

Awwww! Sorry you can't come to Azkatraz this year but Infinitus next year, the one at the HP theme park should be AWESOME!

Vista was one of the reasons I went Mac when my last laptop died.

I'm struggling with it daily, and still not sure how much is the shiny new laptop! Grrrrr!

Great quote about Alan. *vbg*

I've been to Natural Bridge actually but somehow missed the wax museum. O_o

Have I mentioned how much I like The Black Asphodel? ;)

*blushy face* You, um, might have mentioned it!

The Wax Museum is awesomely tacky! They start out in the Garden of Eden and it's all downhill from there!

The trip with your nephew sounds fun. We really liked the Natural Bridge when we were there. But I have one question for you: Did you go to Foamhenge? I have to say I was quite taken with it when we visited. And given that it's free, it's definitely worth a look.

Sadly, we didn't make it to Foamhenge! After we did the caverns and Auntie Delta bought about a million bat souvenirs, we were too tired to do more!

Well, if you're up in that area again, you should stop by. You only really need a few minutes. But I completely understand being tired after all that. We were there for several days so we could space things out a bit.

Glad you both had fun. :)

*hugs* Thanks for the tip! We have lots of other field trips planned for the summer so we might be in the area again! We'll definitely add Foamhenge to the list!

Just butting in to say, for the love of all things Snarry, don't go to Natural Chimneys. *yawns just thinking about it*

We're big fans of Monticello, Appomattox, Mt. Vernon, Williamsburg, Harper's Ferry.

Ohhhh, thanks for the tip! Mt. Vernon and Williamsburg are on our list, since even though we've been there, there's always enough to see and do that it's always fresh!

I've lived half a century without seeing a wax museum and I would hate to break that record.

I can see Mr. Radcilffe being baffled by sarcasm as a kid. Most kids are. Then, suddenly, you have adult enough sensibilities to say, AH HA. Then, with Mr. Rickman, oooooooh.

*purrs* I know! He's always been so effusive about other actors, like Gary Oldman and hardly ever a word about working with Alan. As far as I'm concerned he can open up and reveal as much as he likes about that relationship!

But recently I've woken up to it and he's actually a great guy

Is it just me, or is Dan's relationship to Alan mirroring Harry's relationship to Snape? Suddenly RPS is starting to look very appealing....

*sobs* I don't know how I'm going to stand next week while everyone else is at Azkatraz *considers hopping a plane and hoping Al won't notice I'm gone*. I suppose I'll bury myself in Merlin fic.

*hides in Allie's suitcase* Heh.

Al has been trying to talk me into going, too, because he knows I'll be all mopey and sad-faced (iz a huge whiner). But we'll be in NY the following week and that's too much time away from work for Al. And I'd never hear the end of it if I went myself.

*seconds this* With the time change in your favor on the way out, you could easily do this as a weekender and still be there for the Snarry meet up!

Al doesn't have to work any special hours though he's quite the work-a-holic and can frequently be found doing some kind of work on both evenings and weekends as well as during vacation unless I watch the man 24/7. Theoretically, we could just fly in for the Snarry meet-up. However, that was our plan for Terminus and we ended up staying in Chicago for a week. ;D We can't be gone that long this time and I know I lack the self-discipline to leave while everyone else is having fun.
